LALIGA Meets with Vice President of the People's Republic of China

During his state visit to Spain, the Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Han Zheng, and his government delegation, led by Mr Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, and Ms Hua Chunying, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed LALIGA in Madrid. Javier Tebas, President of LALIGA, together with a select group of companies strategic to relations between China and Spain, the CEOE, and the Spanish Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, exchanged views on the growing commercial relations between the two countries and the prospects for the future.

The meeting confirms that LALIGA has become a key figure in relations between China and Spain. The importance of the presence of organisations such as LALIGA in China helps to promote efforts to strengthen ties between the sports industries of both countries.

"Football and LALIGA are one of the best ambassadors for the Spain brand, and we are working to promote football in the region through projects in collaboration with local institutions and entities. China is one of the key markets for LALIGA and we want to continue strengthening the relationship under the commitment to grow football in both countries," said Javier Tebas, president of LALIGA.

China has been a pillar of LALIGA internationalisation strategy since its inception. Javier Tebas has visited the country several times during the 2024-25 season, establishing a strategic partnership with China Media Group (CMG) to promote football exchange between China and Spain, and signing a strategic agreement with the Chinese Professional Football League (CFL) to support the development of China’s professional league and its youth system. In addition,  Javier Tebas was officially appointed as CFL’s first international strategic advisor.
