Levante UD overcame UD Almería on matchday 10 of the Liga BBVA. For the Granotas it was their first victory at the Ciutat de València Stadium this season, while for their opponents it was their third defeat on the trot.
There were no great chances on goal in the first half, but the home side were able to take advantage of a mistake by the Andalusian defence to take the lead. It was David Barral, in the 26th minute of the game, who struck with his left foot to beat Rubén, in what was the first chance for Lucas Alcaráz’s men. The Rojiblancos tried to recover from the blow and started to take command but the solid Levante defence prevented any surprises from the Almería attack.
Francisco Rodríguez’s men continued to press in the second half, until the equaliser came through Jonathan Zongo. Tomer Hemed took a corner that was finished off by the striker from Burkina Faso. Aware of the importance of the victory, the Granotas responded quickly and, five minutes later, Victor Casadesús made it 2-1, earning his team their first win at the Ciutat de València in ten matchdays.
