SÁB 28.12.2013

'Champions for Life', the solidarity match organised by the Liga de Fútbol Profesional and UNICEF continues to attract the biggest stars of Spanish football. Having previously confirmed the presence of big names Raúl García and Gabi Fernández of Club Atlético de Madrid, three players from Real Madrid and Liga BBVA have come together for a good cause: Sergio Ramos, Álvaro Morata and Jesús Fernández.

Not even a World and European champion like Sergio Ramos wants to miss the most important date of the year. The player from Camas is considered to be one of the world’s best defenders and is one of the emblems of Real Madrid and the Spanish national side. A fixture in Carlo Ancelotti's starting line-up, Ramos has played 15 times in Liga BBVA this season and has scored once.

At his side will be Morata, one of the young pearls of Spanish football. Having come through the club’s academy, he has found a place in the first team squad through hard work and goals, being one of Carlo Ancelotti's catalysts. This summer he took another forward step in his career by winning the UEFA Euro U-21 Championship in Israel, taking the golden boot award with five goals in the process.

Ramos and Morata will be accompanied by academy goalkeeper Jesús Fernández and Real Madrid Castilla's central midfielder Omar Mascarell. These four players will share a changing room with other big players from sides such as Athletic Club, Sevilla FC and RC Celta de Vigo as they represent the West team managed by Javier Aguirre.

The 'Champions for Life' match is a solidarity initiative that looks to help people affected by Typhoon Haiyan, which has destroyed the Philippines and left millions of people homeless. Also, some of the funds generated at the match will be destined for social projects both in Spain and abroad.
