Real Madrid dazzle on a day of few goals

The Whites filled their boots on the road against Betis, while Elche and Espanyol beat their respective opponents by a single goal.

Real Madrid CF has so far proved to be the team of Liga BBVA matchday 20, which has brought few goals to the championship's stadiums, as the Whites add even more pressure to the top part of the table.

In Saturday's opening match in the competition, Real Madrid showed signs of their intention to fight for the leadership as they defeated Real Betis Balompié 0-5. With this win, and pending FC Barcelona and Club Atlético de Madrid's results on Sunday, the Whites move level on points with the blaugranas and the rojiblancos.

For their part, Elche clinched an important victory against their close rival Rayo Vallecano in the Martínez Valero, temporarily moving them away from the bottom of the table. The home side, who played with one a one-man advantage for most of the match, managed to make the most of their numerical supremacy. Next, Granada CF and CA Osasuna produced a goalless draw that keeps both teams in the middle of the table.

Saturday's final match in the Liga BBVA was also deadlocked until the dying minutes of the game between RCD Espanyol and RC Celta de Vigo. However, Sergio García finally managed to change the fate of a clash that looked destined to finish 0-0. The captain of the blanquiazules cropped up in the 88th minute to finally undo the Galician team's defence and give his team the victory.
