Luis Suarez named LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for December

FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has been named the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for December. The prize comes as a reward for the Uruguay international's instrumental contributions to the Azulgranas cause last month.

Having endured a slow start to the campaign, Suarez is now well and truly back to his brilliant best. The livewire attacker was on the mark in all four of Ernesto Valverde's side's LaLiga encounters in the final month of 2017, netting five times across those matches.

The Uruguayan stalwart kicked off December by helping Barça claim a 2-2 draw with RC Celta, before opening the scoring in the 2-0 win over Villarreal CF at the Estadio de la Ceramica. He struck twice in the Matchday 16 rout of RC Deportivo and then ended the year in style with a goal in Barcelona's emphatic #ElClasico victory at the Santiago Bernabeu. Beyond just his finishing ability, however, it is Suarez's all-round game and work ethic that make him one of the very finest forwards in LaLiga Santander.

This season, LaLiga has added a new dimension to the awarding of the Player of the Month accolade, bringing fans closer to the action of the best league in the world. This will see Suarez collect the award in front of the Camp Nou faithful, before Barcelona's clash with D. Alaves on 28 January.
