Getafe and Granada will cross paths this Friday for matchday 28 of the Liga BBVA in what will be Cosmin Contra’s debut at the helm of the Madrid dugout.
Getafe is currently going through one of it’s shakiest periods since gaining promotion to the Liga BBVA ten seasons ago, having gone twelve successive matches without a win. On the back of this poor run of results, the former Romanian international was drafted in to replace Luis García. "We are full of excitement, I don’t have the slightest doubt that with hard work we will get out of this situation. I promise the fans that they will see a team with more fighting spirit", said Contra, who will have a full squad to choose from with the exception of Miguel Ángel Moyà in nets.
Facing them is a Granada side that lies mid table and that will be coming into this encounter full of confidence after defeating Villarreal (2-0) last weekend. However, with just four points separating them from the relegation zone, Lucas Alcaraz’s men cannot afford to relax in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. "We are going to try to press and squeeze in order to control the match and the scoreboard. Our players look up for it and are mentally ready", the Andalusian side’s coach pointed out. Alcaraz will be without Recio and Yacine Brahimi, who are both suspended, as well as Tiago Ilori, Piti and Odion Ighalo, who are all injured.
