Alexander Sørloth has been named the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for January. The Real Sociedad frontman takes home the award after demonstrating a superb turn of form over the course of the month.
The Norwegian player found the back of the net three times in four matches and played an instrumental role for Real Sociedad. He was on cue in his team’s 2-0 away win against UD Almeria, as well as netting in the huge Basque Derby against Athletic Club (3-1) and opening the scoring against Rayo Vallecano to set the Basque side on their way to victory at Vallecas. These three goals put him on a total of eight for the season and also establish him as Real Sociedad’s top scorer.
With this performance, he inherits the crown as the standout player of the moment in LaLiga Santander, replacing Robert Lewandowski, who won the award back in October. No winners were announced in November and December as result of the World Cup break
