Aficiones Unidas, the organisation that brings together supporters' clubs from the Liga BBVA and the Liga Adelante, showed its support for the Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) and UNICEF initiative, the 'Champions for Life' match, which is to be played in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on the 30th of December.
José María Braña, the association's president, encouraged fans to go to the game: "The match is professional football's offering to charity, which we, the fans, should also be involved with. We will send a communication to our members, with a special request to all the teams in Madrid (Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Rayo Vallecano and Getafe) to attend the match. We are the heart of football, and the heart of football must beat on the night of the 30th of December".
Braña also spoke of the double purpose of 'Champions for Life', "as, on the one hand, it is a charity event, but on the other it is a show to be enjoyed by all the spectators".
The event will consist of a match between two LFPteams,East against West, in which all Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante clubs will be represented. Players will be assigned to one team or the other depending on the geographical location of their clubs. Also UNICEF Spainwill use the money raised to help children who are suffering from the effects of Typhoon Haiyan, in the Philippines, and the LFP will use it for social purposes through its Fundación.
