Samuel Eto'o Fils

Samuel Eto'o Fils

Real Madrid caught a glimpse of his ability early on, although the Cameroonian played his first professional football south of the capital. CD Leganes brought him onboard in the 1997/98 season and that was where he started out at the age of just 16. The following season he debuted for Los Blancos in LaLiga Santander, before going out on loan again to RCD Espanyol.

In 1999 he ended up at RCD Mallorca, the stint which marked the pivotal moment of his career. He made a lasting impression over the course of five seasons, scoring countless goals and even lifting the Copa del Rey trophy.

His impressive form on the island meant FC Barcelona came knocking in 2004, where he remained until 2009 and won three LaLiga Santander titles.
