Baptista kicked off his career in Brazil. His first experience of LaLiga Santander came at Sevilla, where he netted more than 30 goals in just two seasons and drew attention from all corners.
His high profile role in the Sevillian side caught the attention of Real Madrid. His continued to score goals at the capital club, becoming a permanent fixture in the starting XI in the final stages of his stint in Madrid, and even laying his hands on the league trophy in 2008.
Before leaving Spain for good, Baptista pulled on the Malaga CF shirt, scoring 14 goals in 29 appearances.
