Denílson de Oliveira began his career at Sao Paulo FC. In the 1998/99 season he became the most expensive signing in the world when he signed with Real Betis Balompié, where he played more than 200 matches. In the 2005/06 season he moved to FC Girondins in Bordeaux after a stint in 2000 with Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, on loan from Betis. He also played for Al-Nasr, FC Dallas, Palmeiras, Itumbiara Esporte Clube and Xi Mang Hai Phong in Vietnam.
