The chairman of the High Council for Sport (CSD), Miguel Cardenal, was responsible for welcoming those attending to a pioneering seminar aimed at improving coordination in the prevention of violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in professional football. "My congratulations and thanks on behalf of the Government. Our country is a world leader through its work in the field, for its advanced legislation and the efficiency and effectiveness of all parties involved. You can count on the CSD to continue helping you".

Miguel Cardenal expressed his concern to the clubs' security managers and coordinators, the chairmen of the supporters' club federations and the representatives of the State Security Forces, and asked them for their collaboration in the prevention of verbal abuse in football. "We have to stamp out certain expressions that have no place in sports events. I urge you to include these offences in the rule books so that we can put an end to them".

The LFP chairman, Javier Tebas, added his voice to this request. "Verbal abuse is unacceptable in fair play; it's against the Law and a stepping stone to more serious kinds of violence". Tebas confirmed that "La Liga requires its clubs to cultivate a socially minded sport with peace between supporters. From the lower age groups we foster a sense of respect and good practices to avoid any violent incidents in our competition". He also said that the LFP Integrity Department will work to ensure that meetings of this kind are regular "in order to facilitate the work and to monitor all the preventative measures".
