Unai Simón, EA SPORTS LaLiga Save of the Month for August

Unai Simón has been named the winner of the LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Save of the Month for August. The Athletic Club goalkeeper produced a superb save on 27 August at the Spotify Camp Nou against FC Barcelona. Just past the 40-minute mark, with the score at 1–0, Lamine Yamal found himself one-on-one with him inside the box, but Unai held his ground, spread himself wide and parried his left-footed shot to prevent the Blaugrana from extending their lead.

The accolade also marks a personal milestone for the Spanish international: it is the first time he has won the monthly Best Save award. After several nominations, and having been a finalist for the 2025/26 season award, Unai Simón has finally added his first honour in this category to his list of achievements and once again demonstrated his ability to rise to the occasion when it matters most.
