Spain wins its second FIFA World Cup

Spain has claimed the second star in its history by winning the grand final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final.

Our league was the most represented in the grand final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, with 24 of the 52 players called up for the match — more than any other league.

Spain took the initiative throughout the match but was unable to get ahead on the scoreboard in the 90 minutes, despite the many chances it created. Then, in extra time, the decisive goal came in the 106th minute. FC Barcelona player Ferran Torres capitalized on a headed pass from Athletic Club's Nico Williams to beat the opposing goalkeeper with a powerful shot.

 

This goal secured a historic victory for Spanish football and the second FIFA World Cup for an unrepeatable generation packed with players from our league.
